Winnemucca, Nv stop.

Heading to the Alvord desert this May. Want to stop in Winnemucca to pick up supplies for a 2 week camp, food, water, fill tanks etc, etc, Can someone reccomend a campground/RV park. Will have a TC with trailer carrying UTV. Can disconect trailer to take camper to town for supplies. Looking for the most conveint stop, only plan 1 night so like to be close to all, so I can get out of there quick, I hate cities...
  • One thing about Model T, keep a watch on your power. We were there in June several years ago for a couple of days and when folks started coming in off the road in the afternoon our management system kicked out. Low voltage was the culprit, so I watched the NBA playoffs in thee casino. They had real "fancy" pedestals but that was just a fooler.
  • Just shows how different our experiences can be--and one does not cancel out the other. (in reference to High Desert RV)

In over 15 years of RV travel, this is the only park where we were met at the entrance and taken to our site BEFORE checking in. Now I will admit, the person meeting us was the only staff we had any occasion to deal with. Also, this was only an overnight for us but it served our purpose well. This allowed us to set up, get the AC going, and then at our convenience go back to the office and take care of the check-in.

It was not the best for our nervous dog, but that was our only problem.

None of this is to compare with any other park in the area as this is the one and only time we have ever been in Wenammuca.
  • I have stayed at HiDesert many times and i also wont go back. If i was staying one night i would stay at Model T. Its old and small but close to everything. If you dont want to be right in town there is a new one across from the HiDesert at the east end. There is also Winnemucca RV Park at east end of town but i avoid it also.
  • we have stayed at both High Desert and Model T RV Parks and will NEVER go back to High Desert. It is on the eastern fringe of the town, high cost and very unfriendly staff. Model T is in town on the west side, walking distance to most thing and they will provide you with transportation if you need it. They also charge less than High Desert and the staff has always been courteous and helpful. Also, if you want to spend one night with full hook ups and then move to a dry camp lot, you can do that at Model T.

Their is a Wal- Mart on the west end of town, Google it and look at the street view , their should be parking for your setup.
I'm wanting a place to empty tanks and fill water, take a shower etc so I'll need a rv park, thanks anyway.
  • Last Summer we stayed at the High Desert RV Park in Winnemucka and found it quite acceptable. For us it was just an overnight, but I think it might be the best available for longer stay.

Here is their website: High Desert RV

That won't be an issue in Winnemucca. The town is very small. Check into High Desert RV park.
