Some of the people that come to the coast get the winter crud too. For 3 years we have been lucky not to - we are originally from MI.
Read that if it is local plants/allergies - look for local honey to use. The bees will have used local pollens and it will help build an immunity to whatever plants it may be. Not sure if this works or not, but could be worth a try.
