Wintering in Myrtle Beach

Looking for info from someone who has wintered in the Myrtle Beach area. We may need to spend this winter in the Myrtle Beach SC area and would like information on weather and good parks to stay in at that time. Thanks in advance

  • Ocean Lakes is great during the winter time. I have stayed there for Christmas thru New Years 7 times. There is plenty to do right at the CG. The indoor pool is very nice and well heated. They still have some activities going on also. I have walked thru Lakewood and Pirateland which were like ghost towns in comparasin. Ocean Lakes gets pretty busy for the New Years weekend and the Polar Bear Plunge is pretty popular. After that, it gets pretty quiet. They do close the store, pool and arcade Christmas Eve and Christmas day and I believe they shut the store down for a day or 2 to do inventory. You can get a site in the 4000 section which is further from the beach and a bit warmer, but the Ocean front sites are hard to pass up on.

    Christmas time is great!!!!

Lot of folks winter over at Myrtle Beach Travel Park. They will turn the picnic table cover into an outdoor living room for the winter. Might be cool in the early am but it warms up nice during the day.

Exactly what we do. Winter there is not crowded and being able to close in the 4-post roof structure makes all the difference in the world. Happy hour haven! :C

  • Myrtle Beach Travel Park. Can't say enough good about them. Great location near tons of activities and eateries too.
  • Ocean Lakes is great in the winter...... have it all store, laundry, snack bar, security, concrete pads are available or not depending on perferance...... don't think any parks close in the Myrtle Beach area in the winter.

Ocean Lakes is crowded in the summer but super quiet in the winter til Easter weekend.

  • Take a look at Willow Tree RV resort. Their website is www.willowtreervr.com. Our son-in-law's mother and brothers live in Myrtle Beach and they recommended. We booked a week at the end of October to try it out. It appears to be a nice resort. Good Luck.
  • Pirateland was cool when we visited south myrtle. Not sure if they are year round and it is right on the beach, so expect the chill. But for a campground it wasnt bad.
    Good luck
