Hello, can anyone suggest good campgrounds, private or state park, near Milwaukee, the Wisconsin Dells and Door County in June? We will be in a 36' fifth wheel and like 50 amp FHU but can do with water and electric. Pool is nice but not necessary. Need clean and safe campgrounds. Thanks!

Near the dells I like to camp at Stand Rock Campground. For a camper of your size I'm partial to the full hook-up sites that do not have any sites behind them as they are quite deep (i.e. sites 33, 35, 36, 37, 39, etc.). Campground is very quiet, has very clean and modern restrooms, and has a nice pool and game room.

Door Country - Peninsula State Park (and no other!)Wisconsin Dells - Stand rock, Holiday Shores, or Rocky Arbor state parkNear Milwaukee? Ummm....well. They aren't the best, but not bad either. Jellystone is nearest (avoid if possible). Lazy Days in West Bend (pretty good country feel with a super nice fishing/frog pond). River Bend in Watertown (nice waterslide onsite). Or KOHLER-ANDRAE state park (awesome hiking trails and beach area for hot days). Those are the closest options to Milwaukee.

Be aware that state parks in Wisconsin have no hookups other than electric, and many of those may not be 30 amp. Also, a large trailer such as the OP has will be limited as to sites it will fit in. That said, Wisconsin has some of the nicest SPs in the country. :) Another option around Wisconsin Dells is the KOA. They do have big-rig sites; most are in their lower level, which is VERY close to the train, which runs frequently - one drawback. If they have a site that fits you in their upper level, I strongly recommend it. Nice owners who care about the CG and the folks who stay there. Convenient to downtown, the Ducks rides, the boats, and the water parks. Rocky Arbor is nice but will be noisy toward the back end of the CG, as it backs up right to the interstate.

Whew...the state parks are in high demand but we got what, when & where we wanted at Mirror Lake, Peninsula & Potawami SPs.

Like others have stated, you probably won't have much luck getting into a SP near the Dells or Door County. Door County is extremely popular in the summer.

You might try Ottawa SP near Eagle WI, it's just west of the metro Milwaukee area but that's liable to be booked too.

There are tons of private campgrounds near the Dells, we like to stay at a place called Chapparal Campground and RV resort, it's about 15 miles out or so but it's nice and quiet.

Hopefully things have improved at Lazy Days. We drove through it a couple years ago, very run down, sites not the best, most were swampy and just looked like a very tired campground. Stand Rock is one of our favorites in the Dells. It is just outside the Dells and a very well run campground.

I've been to each 3 times but not Egg Harbor.

Lazy Days...I'll add my thoughts. Its a nice "rustic" feeling CG practically inside the town of West Bend. My kids loved it, and I have no complaints. They have a great fishing pier, very nice beach and swimming area, and the frog hunting with nets keeps the kids busy in the evening. We've used it for last minute, 30 minutes drive, camping outings, taking whatever site they have open. It always works out somehow.

We have stayed at https://wagontrailcampground.com/ in Sister Bay and had great experiences. No pool but you can bike to Lake Michigan. It's quiet and clean with wonderful showers.
