Wisconson Dells

We will be attending a wedding at the Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin in October. It looks like there are several campgrounds in that area. Anyone have any favorites they would recommend. Thanks.
  • A quick check of the campgrounds in the dells tells me that they close for the season anywhere from Oct 1 to Oct 15. Yes there are campgrounds open year round - you can find them on the Good Sam search engine - click on open all year.
  • If you don't need full a full hookup, WI state parks are great and open year round. There are two near the Dells and one about 20 minutes south. Reservations can be made on Reserve America. Not sure about availability. Fall can be a very busy time in the state parks. One place we went to once that was OK was Country Roads RV Park. Not fancy but clean and friendly. Don't know how late in the year they are open. It doesn't say on their web site.

  • Campfire Time is onto a good thing. WI State Parks are great places to stay. We have stayed at Mirror Lake a long time ago and loved it. Devils Lake is beautiful and Rocky Arbor may be great, but when we were there it was raining and we were still tent camping then, not a great experience. Realize non of these have water or sewer hook-ups and if you can't secure an electric site, you cannot run your generator either. You will also have to pay an entrance fee per day, but campsite prices are very cheap, I believe around $20 a day.
  • You will have a hard time finding one open. Season closing date is usually Oct. 1.
