- GaryWTExplorerWe stayed 2 years ago because we could not get into NYC North KOA. We did not like it. Very dust, dirty, long grass, funky issues. The grass around out fire pit was to our knees and the grass at the rental bikes was long. The live band was at 5:45 to 6:20 or something like that. One couple wanted to take a shower but I don't think they ever found them. We were warned about attack squirrels when we checked in. We will not be back.
- Bob___AnnExplorerWe visited my Aunt last year in Hudson NY. We stayed at Brook n Wood in Elizaville which is about 25 miles from Saugaties. The park is nicely kept and there is a very pretty creek running through it. They have a nice pool and a home made miniature golf for family fun. The road in has a lot of pot holes but other then that it is not a bad choice. Check out their site which I think is www.brooknwood.com
- nomad297ExplorerIf you're going to be in that area you should go to Rip Van Winkle Campground. It will beat any KOA.
Bruce - gclossExplorerYou could also try Jellystone Lazy River in the New Paltz area. Super nice well maintained CG right on the Wallkill River. They have two heated pools, rec center and lots of organized activities if you care to partake.
This CG is privately owned with both owner's families living on the premises. They are part of the Yogi Bear Jellystone group, as well as a Good Sam CG giving a 10% discount.

I've been here too. This place is no comparison to Rip Van Winkle. I can't believe you would mislead the OP this way.
Bruce - spadoctorExplorerwhen were you there? I am in no way misleading the OP
- JimbeeExplorerRip Van Winkle is the best choice if you like large, heavily wooded sites with full hookups, this campground is fantastic!
- jtbr3Explorerit is ok for weekend but newburgh koa, jellystone lazy river or rip van winkle are all great choices with kids and lots to do. All easy commutes from NJ. I made newburgh koa in less than 1 hr few weekends back plus koa allows u to stay until 5pm on sundays for $5 hr not per person.
