Wyoming Vacation June-July 2022

Planning on a trip to Wyoming and would like your thoughts on places to see and stay. Will be there a month so will we able to see several points of interest in the state. Of course Yellowstone National Park is a definite stop we will not stay in the park however - our rig is too big - any suggestions for RV parks within driving distance of YStone? I would appreciate any information you could share on your trips to the state of Wyoming and the parks you stayed in. We are not looking for resorts - but RV Parks. Our rig is 42 ft. Also restaurants and other spots to visit that you found interesting. Thanks for your suggestions. Also we enjoying taking our vehicle and doing driving and tours.
  • Johnson County is where they filmed the Longmire series. You can find interesting things to do at their website Johnson County, WY

Wear bug spray and enjoy yourselves. We did.:C
  • Pssst..... there's horse flies out there too!!! They'll emerge right after the skeeters. They will take off w your elbow if you don't smash them first. LOL
  • At least you can ward off the skeeters, but what about the onslaught of people after 4th of July?
  • We were there in mid to late May and the mosquitos were twin engined?. Depends on snow melt timing as to when they are worse. I would think late June-July would be better than snow melt period.
  • Arrive at any entrance station early…no earlier…to avoid waiting. An hour in some cases.
  • Have you been to WY that time of year before?

I could be wrong, but it seems like June is when the mosquitos go nuts. We were visiting Laramie one year (pretty sure it was June) and we literally had to run from our rental car to the grocery store to get some bug spray. Pretty insane.

Our kids went to college up there, and I'm convinced that Wyoming is trying to kill us.
  • Fishing Bridge RVPark in Yellowstone will have sites of 40-95 feet available in the upper loop. It will be open for the 2022 season.

You won't fit in 95 feet?
  • We stayed at an RV park close to Gardiner, MT when we were there a couple of years ago. Don't remember the name. It is less than a mile to the northern entrance of YNP.
It was a nice park with very good security. We were in a 40' motorhome with a tow car and able to park the tow at our site.
