  • downtheroad,
Was it cnn or msnbc that stated Mt. St Helens blew. They are not even worthy of capital letters.
  • I was 30 miles away from Mt. St Helens when they said it blew...
Mt. St Helens did not blow....fake news.

BTW I saw an article a few weeks ago saying Shasta was overdue for an eruption, if you believe overdue volcanoes mean anything. And there is always the Long Valley Caldera if you want to work up a serious sweat...heh. From what I've seen the closest volcano is YNP that is most likely to erupt is the one under Craters of the Moon.

It's started erupting 15,000 Years ago and was still at in 2000 years ago. The eruption is just thought to have paused and the next eruption could spit up 1 cubic mile of lava.
  • All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go....San Andreas...oh, San Andreas...here I come. I'm all shook up!
  • No YNP isn't going to blow, this month anyway. Maybe it will in August 2315 or
March 10276, some other future date. Earthquake swarms happen every few years in YNP and signify nothing much. YVO

To warn of an imminent eruption, quakes need to be of a certain type that show magma is moving, harmonic earthquakes, and what is happening now isn't that type.
