Yellowstone area summer rates?

It's a bargain compared to Fort Wilderness in FL.

Wow, who would have guessed. I will petition the state of Montana for the nearly $75,000 in lodging taxes I sent them this year. I will be sure to use your research as my justification. As soon as I get my money back, I will send you a 25 percent finder's fee. For Yellowstone, why not stay in the park itself in one of the many no hookup campgrounds. Just conserve your water. It can be done.... and much cheaper than a RV park. Mix it up... splurge in one place and be economical in another.

We booked our first leg near Custer South Dakota on the way out and about the same price so guess it's normal. We are all booked for all 10 nights so heck with the cost ready to go!

Whether or not that rate is par for the course depends. How many people are in your group? Many parks are based on double occupancy, so if you have 5 or six people, $75 is more palatable than if you are a party of two. Taxes in Montana will either be 7% or 10% depending upon whether or not the location has a 3% resort tax. That is going to add four or five bucks to that total. Finally, do you qualify for any discounts? There are usually discounts for seniors, military and either Good Sam or KOA depending on the park. You can usually also get a discount for staying 7 or more days.
One thing to remember is in Montana, distances can be huge. Savings of $5.00 or $10.00 a night can easily be eaten up by a long commute. You mentioned Emigrant, Montana. Emigrant is 30 miles away from Yellowstone and 25 Miles from Livingston. A round trip commute to either of them from Emigrant is going to take 3 or 4 gallons of fuel and an additional hour of time. Something to consider. The Paradise Valley is an amazing area, enjoy.

We stayed in Madison in the park for $13 a night with senior pass.

YNP is a long way from almost anything else in Montana, I would not think about day tripping from there. I think we were quoted about that much for the KOA in Bozeman tho, I turned around and left and found a much cheaper spot.

We stayed at Bear Canyon CG which was about half that but just a warning. That CG is right off I-90, just to the south. There is an underpass THAT IS ABOUT 12' high. My son yelled just before we went under it. This means you can only get to the place if you are east bound on I-90 if you have a 5ver or any other high RV. It is certainly too far away from YNP to daytrip, something like 90 miles.

Thanks for all the info! We wanted to spend some time in Montana to the north as well so that location seemed central for us. I'll take a look at some of the places mentioned.

I think I`m paying $55 or something a night in Fishing Bridge. I couldn't imagine paying more to stay well outside the park. that would be a long drive everyday.
