Yellowstone area~other attractions we should see

For me, just the bookstore was a half day event. We took two full days to see the museum.

If possibly can, get to the Museum of the Rockies...

Before or after Yellowstone, definitely stay next door at Grand Teton Nat'l Park. Both parks are completely different in things to do and looks. Grand Teton has some campgrounds that don't accept reservations but they each have 300 very nice sites. We've always gotten a site for our 40' motorhome. With your small trailer you'll have no problem. Take the gentle float trip in the park down the Snake River and you might see a moose in the water with you. We did!

If you aren't on any schedule (except for your Yellowstone reservation) explore the surrounding states. There is so much to see and do that one week won't be nearly enough time. You won't have any problems with the roads in the area with your small RV so have a great time!

Each national park has a wonderful web site with lots of good information on things to do, camping and road info. Check them out.

My in-laws were actually missionaries for the church in Cody in their 80s. The FIL enjoyed the firearms museum.
I see that Cody is about 70 miles from Fishing Bridge one way.
I remember going through the Western Heritage Museum (I think is was called) in the park near LA years ago. I remember seeing the double holster setup of Clayton Moore (The Lone Ranger) on display there and stuff from many Hollywood types.
Growing up with westerns in the 40s and 50s left me with many memories.

I planned an afternoon for the museum. I had to go back the next day. Don't miss it.

We trailer the car on a 16' trailer.

Make sure you take your toad and drive out the NE entrance to Red Lodge MT. The Beartooth Highway would be a hoot in your Miata.

And since Jackson isn't far from Yellowstone (and you have to drive through Grand Teton NP to get there) it is well worth the visit.

Go over to Cody and tour the museum there, you get a two day pass and it will take two days to see everything in there. Drop into Jackson and take a few pictures of the Tetons and Mormon Row.
