Have to agree with you there. I guess it all depends on how important weather is to you. - ppineExplorer IIThe spring is a wonderful time to on the Plateau. The crowds are small and you get to see all the babies.

Spring? LOL. Try summer.
Spring in Yellowstone, and other parts of the West is May-June, when we got to Madison CG in early June, we got snow & 30 degrees, then it warmed gradually each day.
X3. In 1984 when I was young, crazy/stupid and a newlywed my husband and I packed our camping gear into our Datsun pick-up truck and headed west (from MA) for a three-week honeymoon. Didn't know where we going but wound up at Yellowstone. We arrived at the beginning of June to snow in both Yellowstone and Grand Teton. Night temps dropped into the 20s. Woke up to a frozen water bucket. If you don't mind cold and potentially bad weather go in the spring. Personally I'd wait until a little later in the year. - bukhrnExplorer III

The road between Tower-Roosevelt and Chittenden Road will be completely closed until May 2022.
If you want to visit Lamar valley to the NW of Canyon, you’ll have to detour west, up to Mammoth, then head east, quite a detour. - TenOCNomad

Check the YNP website for that sort of info
Only info on website is for 2020. Remember all NP were closed this spring due to the virus. - TenOCNomad
