Yellowstone RV suggestions

I will be in the Yellowstone area sometime during the 1st 2 weeks of Sept. I am pulling a 20 ft TT. I will be leaving Alpine Wy and headed to the park. I had thought about staying somewhere in the area of the south entrance, but I see that road construction in the park starting 9/2 will add 2 hours to the Old Faithful trip.

Any suggestion for a nice place to stay in the park or nearby, either the south entrance or possibly the west? I would like full hookups, but water and power would be fine too. Do you think the crowds will be down enough by then to stay in the park or is that not going to happen?

Thanks
Curly
  • The only place with hookups inside the Park is Fishing Bridge. There are a number of FHU campgrounds in West Yellowstone with Grizzly RV getting the best reviews.

If you want to save some $$ and can get by with electric only, Bakers Hole Forest Service CG is just 3 miles north of West Yellowstone.
  • Grizzly RV park in W. Yellowstone is very nice. Check out the non-profit Grizzly Discovery Center in W. Yellowstone.
