Okay I'll admit it, I have been in love with Yellowstone since the seventies. The DW and the DDs and I went there after having researched each area and it took us two trips to see most of what we read about.
We have taken the DGKs and they loved the outlying areas. Old Faithful was a disappointment to all of us the first time, the DGS in particular. The second time it erupted it was fantastic and he loved it. We walked out to Morning Glory Pool and they almost cried. It looks nothing like it did when we took their Mom. Tourists have destroyed it. Other places were scientifically exciting.
The wolves were out and we waited for a long time to see them. The buffalo were a little touchy, seems it was the rut. Watched one big bull destroy a little pine using it as a scratching post.
Like was said earlier, you have to spend some time so the park can show itself.
