I also think that in reality, no one can tell YOU what YOU should spend YOUR time seeing. What makes me sigh in wonder will make another yawn. That's why so many suggest just getting out of the car and exploring - because you're more likely to find something that connects for you. As for hiking ability, you don't need to hike for days to see things worthwhile. A 2 mile round-trip hike can result in some gorgeous scenery. In addition, any time you spend off the road is more likely to result in an enjoyable experience simply because there is nothing separating you from it. It's hard to see the forest when you're in a metal box...
