I thought there would be more people giving specific locations in the park that they found exceptional.
The mud pots. Old Faithful (sometimes you just have to be patient) or any of the geysers. Any of the vent holes. And anywhere a critter shows up where you wouldn't expect it, like the HUGE bison that was wondering around Old Faithful Inn last time we were there, preventing people from getting inside. Sometimes you just have to marvel at something just because it exists. I felt the same way as you did when I went to the Alamo. Couldn't for the life of me figure out what the big deal was. I just didn't have the emotional connection like the locals did, yet I go by Lexington Green periodically and still feel something. Don't let others beat you up because you were underwhelmed. If we all only like vanilla ice cream the world would be a mighty boring place.
