what are the odds of being able to get a RV site in Fishing Bridge RV campground in late August without a reservation? We want full hook ups and this is the only campground in the park with such, I think?
  • Actually maybe, if it's late August.
Park attendance really starts dropping off the last week or so, as people have to start heading home to get their kids ready for school.

Earlier in August... ya, not very likely.

I lived around the park for many years and the last of Aug attendance starts dropping.
In fact this camground closes in mid Sept
Attendance drops like a rock after Labor Day, and even more steeply in Oct.
Even though Oct and April (if the roads are open) are the best times.
Oh ya, there are road closures for construction.
  • I'd say the chances are slim and none and Slim left town. If you can wait until school starts, (usually the day after Labor Day, at least around here) the crowds will be down quite a bit. OTOH, if you're looking for FHUs, consider Grizzly RV Park. It's two blocks outside the west gate. More expensive? Yes. Bigger, pull thru sites? Yes. Free Coffee every morning? Yes. Laundry facilities? Yes.
And you're 14 miles from the Grand Loop. But it isn't a tunnel. There's lots of wildlife to see on your way. One day, it took me a couple of hours to get to the Grand Loop. The animals don't know that they're not supposed to jaywalk. Have fun.
  • You mean next month August? Darned slim would be my guess, you would probably have to find a cancellation. Check the ReserveAmerica website a couple of times a day and you might get one.
