Yellowstone

This will be our first time there. Arriving probably later next week. Want power and water at minimum. Don't want to be tied to the time constraints that site reservations bring so we're making our visit now since the kids are now in school and hopefully snow hasn't flown yet.

With that, my plan is to "show up" and find a spot, most likely outside YNP. Am I more likely at finding such camping in or around Gardiner or at West Glacier? Campground reccommendations appreciated too.

All I can tell you is that I've used it several times over the years and it takes 100 gallons of stuff without problems. The two CG hosts are on FHU close by. I'll regret posting about this when I get there and there are not any sites. Must be 50' of woods between the sites... Just like those in W Yellowstone for $60+.:B

I have not looked at the official site in 10 years until yesterday.
  • It sounds like this is a holding tank for the host sites.

Regardless, we absolutely love that campground.
  • I'm the OP (original poster). Thanks to those who gave me helpful information in response to what I asked. We will stay at Rocky Mt. RV in Gardiner.

To the rest who responded it amazes me how Rabbit Trails can get started and how far away from the OP's intent they lead. It's interesting to watch these Trails wander off.
  • We max out 16 day stay in Bakers Hole about every summer. There is no public or on site camper use dump station in the "Hole". You may have used the host site dump, but everyday, folks who have smaller holding tanks head to Grizzly
