Yosemite is burning....

We have been there. This is heartbreaking. For those who have never been to this very special place, you might not understand. For those who have been there, this is devastating. The fire isn't in the valley yet, but this is really looking bad.

In the long run, Yosemite will survive just as Yellowstone has. Fire is the natural course of the forest. It may not look the same for a few years but it will return in time.

The biggest problem is man. For far too long we have extinguished all fires. Over time the fuel in the forest builds up and we have to suffer the consequences. In 1988, Yellowstone burned until mother nature put it out herself.

X2 (or is it X3?) Man has stopped naturally occurring fires for years. Science has shown that fires are good for a healthy forest.

  • I love yosemite as well but it isn't burning. The fire isn't in the park but near it. Even the nightly news last night said "... the seguoias are burning." and they showed pine trees in the picture. It is a big fire but it was caused by lightning. Yosemite will survive!!
  • fires are natural and can be quite healthy to a forest environment

Yellowstone forests were healthier than ever after the big fire several years back
