Yosemite NP -- 32 foot TT -- Best Site.

Pre-planning for mid May 2018. What are the best longest easiest to park in sites for a 32 foot TT. I assume Lower Pines. I understand I need to make reservations in Dec or Jan. That is 6 months in advance.

  • I just booked, 3 days ago, a stay at Lower Pines for late September. There are only 5 sites rated for trailers over 24', even though there are lots of 35' sites. If you read the warnings, it says it in the description lower on the page. 40' sites state the max trailer length is 35'. Site 38 is the best, but hard to get. The others are 36, 55 & 50. I got 55, my 3rd choice. You have to be logged in and waiting with the site loaded and then it is still a **** shoot. I hit the refresh button maybe 2 seconds after 7:00 and 38&36 were already locked out. North Pines has 3 sites for your size, 323, 403 & 128. That was plan B, but I didn't need to use it. We got 4 nites in the Valley and 4 at the Wawona campground. We are really looking forward to this. We have stayed at the Yosemite Lodge many times, but never done it in an RV. Good luck

Yes lower pines and the best site it the one you manage to book via the lottery system. We had one right at the CG entrance and it was the easiest to back into since it wasn't on one of the very narrow roads. It was next to the dumpsters and rest rooms however. And right on the river. You'll have to look on the map to see which site number it was.

The deeper you get into the roads the more difficult it will be it get into the site. We managed to book a second site after our time ran out on the first one (they keep some sites open in case of river flooding which didn't happen that year) and it took 30 minutes and a number of surrounding camper 'helpers' to manage to get us into that site. And it was only one site in from the border road.

But being near the dumpsters would be the best place to watch the bears! :)

Reservations for Yosemite are different than most sites on Recreation.com.

Reservations can be made up to 5 Month(s) in advance.

New dates are released in blocks, 1 Month(s) at a time.

Blocks are released on the 15th of the month.

  • Lower Pines #38 is the best campsite in the valley IMO. Plenty of space, and a great view of Half Dome.
  • Good luck in winning the Lottery. :B
You best make alternative plans to stay outside the Park
