Yuma

Hi,
How is the occupancy in the parks in Yuma this year, specifically the Palms? We are currently in Borrego Springs where the park is about 50%. Far less than last year. Also we have friends over at Desert Hot Springs where they tell us the park is almost empty and has been all winter. We'll be heading to Yuma for Feb, all is good, just wanted a heads up how full the parks are.
Cheers.

  • We'll be in stopping in Yuma for a day or so to have the water heater looked at. Any recommendations or warnings for a shop?

OP: Where on Vancouver Island? Where in England? Dad from Lancashire, DW from Yorkshire--War of The Roses still not decided! We live near Victoria.

Or do we know you from FMCA Vancouver Islanders Chapter?
  • Thanks for the replies. About the sculptures, There is a new one at Christmas circle beside Carlees. It's a stage coach and horses. Also Ricardo has been commissioned by many retailers and you can see his work all through the town now. I think the Dragon across the road is the latest and largest.
And the replies about the Palms, well we arrive there next Saturday for a month. We already have to tickets to see Gordon Lightfoot the following week. (I sure hope he has back-up singers, he's getting pretty old now. At least we can sing along ). I have heard the entertainment co-coordinator at the Palms is new and has changed how the entertainment is advertized.
    Thanks for the replies.
  • This being our 11th season in Yuma and being here since Oct. 8 the RV parks are hurting. I am avid watcher of looking at RV parks as I drive past. No rent increase here where we are for next season. I'm sure the owners saw vacant sites in other parks and this drove the no increase. Some of the parks raise the rates and don't realize snowbirding is something folks don't need to do. Also the last week or so the Canadian dollar has taken a beating and this will for sure drive the future here in Yuma. Pueblo Del Oro on 3E has many sites available as does Fortuna De Oro in the Foothills. Went for breakfast yesterday to Caravan Oasis, had vacancy signs out, should have said "how many sites do you want"? I did notice the Palms didn't advertise "big name entertainment" this season. There is a car show there next Saturday and I'll be checking out the occupancy rate for sure. I have heard it isn't good. Rancho Rialto has a sign out "RV sites available", it should say "how many sites do you want or how many houses do you want to buy"?

Can't really help you except that it APPEARS that parks aren't full at all here in Yuma.

Just wanted to ask, though, if you have seen any new Ron Braceda desert sculptures there in Borrego Springs. If so, I might want to head home that way.
  • Not to bad, still lot of openings, in other parks. People are still arriving though. Call them.
  • don't now about the parks, we are leaving tuesday and are staying in a private lot in the foot hills.
