This will be our 7th winter in Yuma...we like it so well that we bought our own place out in farm country.
We started our first season in an RV park in the Foothills section (East) of Yuma County...we lasted a month. After touring the Foothills, we found a large, FHU private lot for rent for way less than the RV park. These lots usually accommodate 2 RV's, but are huge by comparison to parks...130-160'x65'.
I might suggest you book a site in any Foothills RV park (just google Yuma RV parks) for 1 month, then tour Yuma, the Foothills, other RV parks, downtown, etc., to see what suits you best. Maybe you'll like the amenities offered by RV parks, maybe you'll like the relative privacy of a fenced/gated private lot.
As for the wind, Yuma has a few days that are ugly, it is in the Sonoran Desert....other places in AZ are worse, Casa Grande for instance.
AZ air quality.
The terrible water is no joke, but the entire Colorado River Valley is plagued by bad water....plan on buying drinking water, it's cheap.
