A short drive from Mesa to Tempe and you have "performing arts, museums(fire trucks even), good restaurants"
We saw "Memphis" for our anniversary at the ASR Gammage theater last winter and really enjoyed it. We also go to the Hale Theater in Gilbert once in a while.
I would not trade the East Valley for anywhere else! Wind in Yuma would make it hard to fly my RC Airplanes!
But "each to their own!" They have Mexico close by! Pills, booze and dental!
