Zion National Park

Although they are working on the road to Kolob Reservoir this year, it starts very close to the Zion River Resort and will take you (assuming you have a toad) up to Lava Point in ZNP. Potentially a good spot for starting some hikes.

Also within the park Angel's Landing gets the most attention and is a worthwhile hike. But I was pleasantly surprised by Observation Point the time I went with friends. I didn't know what hike we were doing that day so was tickled to be looking *down* onto Angel's Landing from the top.

I was able to get a reservation at Zion River RV Park in August.

That is correct.

I thought the limit was 50'. I will be going to Zion in September also and will be staying at Watchman. My motorhome is 33' 5" long. I assumed I would have to disconnect the car and have my wife follow me in it.

Is this correct?

We stayed at Bauer's. Great WIFI and the beautiful RT 9 drive into the park. Took about 40 minutes to get to the visitor center, but man that drive is spectacular,

This sums it up nicely. I would note that there are only 24 sites in Watchman that will fit your rig and those fill quickly. Watchman is in the park, close to the Virgin River and visitors center, and convenient to the shuttle which will take you into town or up the canyon (you can't drive your own vehicle into the canyon except during the winter).

A decent campground on Hwy 89 just north of the junction to Zion is Bauer's Canyon Ranch RV Park in Glendale, Utah. Stayed there a couple of nights in March. Has good gravel pads, long enough for your rig & toad, grass between sites. Pretty quiet, even with hwy just a short block away.

Sites are somewhat narrow, and all utilities are at the same end, so you'll get to know your neighbors!!! Nice laundry.

Town doesn't have any services, but aboot 10 miles south is groceries, hardware, and fuel.

Not really between Zion and Bryce, but not too bad of a drive to either park.

I think that Springdale is the only entrance with full hookup RV parks nearby. The east side does not have any RV parks that I know about.

The 'north' side, you have to walk out, there are no roads. The south side is a cliff, so it might take a helicopter. . .

You should be able to take the tram from town to the park, and avoid parking problems. There is a tram that is required transportation around the interior of the park in all but 3 winter months.

I did stay in the park a few years ago, and they have 30 amp electric services in many sites, so you do not need to run a generator. But the dump station is nearby, so having larger than average tanks helps! I am so used to dry camping, I can make my 100 gallon fresh water tank last 2 weeks.
