The condenser is on the back of the fridge.
As to the depth, the new fridge is mounted so that the cabinet is just slightly recessed in the built in cabinet. The door is much thicker (more insulation) than the door on the old fridge and it sticks out of the cabinet a good 3"
I would prefer that it was completely flush with the cabinet but given the capacity, efficiency and cost I think I can live with it.
