1947 Flxible Clipper RV Restoration

Hi,

Thought I would introduce ourselves and post a link to my blog which is probably the best way to explain who we are and what we are trying to achieve in saving a little piece of American history for future generations. I hope you like it??

Thanks for the replies, much appreciated.

I hope that the bus will be completed by March/ April 2015.

I have a flickr account that has a lot more of the build pictures on it:

Great project! Sorry you're having trouble as you approach the finish line. If I read your latest post correctly, you're having trouble reaching the shop where the bus is? There's a pretty big audience in this forum - maybe someone close by can swing by the shop to check on it?

If you get it completed, I would not just drive it to Texas to be shipped to the UK.

When will be the next time you and your wife and the bus will be here in the US again? Take some time and travel the US and see some things before shipping it back to the UK. It would be a huge missed opportunity if you didn't.

I agree with the above statement.

What a project! Those old coaches are real classy. I loved the line early on "The next thing to do was work out how to tell my wife what I'd done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I hope the project turns out to be everything you envisioned. Good Luck.

  • I'd like to see it completed too.
My in-laws did something like that to an old Greyhound bus. It was first class all the way with a pro cabinet builder and paint-job. My FIL did all the plumbing, elect. etc.
They used it for a about a year before trading it in on a truck and fiver.
When I finally got him to tell me why, it was power. It seems the old Detroit just wasn't powerful enough to drag the heavy rig around and he could only do 55 on the freeway.
Still, like the OP's it was a beautiful rig and worthy of a re-power.
  • I am so glad people take the time and effort to do things like this. We looked at an old Flxible at a shop in California. It was probably similar to yours. It had a door in the back that went to an engine room. I just thought that was so cool.
