1969 Hi Lo Bon Voyage 209 overhaul

Just wanted to start my build thread. Here's some pics of the camper as I picked it up today.

  • I love this kind of build / re-build. Remove what you don't need and reconfigure for your needs.
  • Just a quick update of the sanding I've been doing, quite a difference, pretty nice wood underneath the faded sticker paneling.

  • It looks like it's in solid shape though. Looking forward to the changes you make and the final outcome.

I'm jealous. Looks like the "bones" are fine.

I keep wanting to get an "oldie but goodie" to rebuild; problem is driveway is already filled with the 5er. So I just keep piddling around adding/changing etc.

    Good Luck,
    Doug

I wouldn't be jealous, my wife and I have been calling it the turdmobile. lol There's hardly any exterior paint left on it, everything needs resealed, and it didn't come with anything, like stabilizer jacks, spare tire, wiring. It was basically just a shell.
  • Thanks for sharing and please, keep us updated. I like to see vintage units maintained and restored.

  • Rebuilt the sink cabinet and removed the fridge.

  • The bed in the back is barely a full, I wasn't happy with the size for me and my wife, so I gutted the rear portion of the trailer to make room for a queen sized bed. I removed all the appliances, and only plan on putting the sink and fridge back in.

And after with the queen sized bed area

    Shortened version of the dresser/closet

New sink location after removing the stove
