Doing a similar job on my Jayco. A section of the roof near the slide has turned to the black powder so common in rotting wood. Since I do not have a barn to work in the tarp solution works for me. For now I am going to relatively good wood and cutting away the rotted material, splicing new material in its place. I figure when the old girl turns 20, that will be the time to completely replace the roof. Even doing all of that work and spending all of that money, I will still be ahead of the game. The fiver is owned outright, and sweat equity beats an RV payment any day of the week. Putting in technology that did not exist when the fiver was new is a great opportunity, like flat screen TV, satellite, memory foam beds...it will be well worth the hard work.
