There are 3 waste tank type vents in our roof that vent only the roof they are screened 'n all. they would install the same as a tank vent just the pipe ends at the screen.
I will be up on the roof tomorrow measuring for the new piece of rubber roof we need to install. I'll do a search for extra vents. I am going to guess that we should have 2 tank vents one for black and one for grey. Should we have other vents too like in our house to make the plumbing work? I'm just not that familiar with RV plumbing.
Not intending to start a contest over "to vent or not to vent" nor advising you install roof vents. Our unit was constructed with them is all I aimed to convey.
The first & second truss from the front were formed with 2X6's as I read it. It is the second truss I am advising to ventilate. The original trusses were built up and had plenty of open area to allow for air flow between the spaces. With the 2X6 second truss there is no easy passage for air & moisture and the void is right over the bed where a significant amount of moisture can accumulate during sleep in the wee hours when it is cooler. I would want that to be able to seek drier air in the adjacent space to the rear. The first truss is all the way forward thus no real void to ventilate, so no need to vent that one as I see it.
As to strength reduction I envision 3 1 1/2" or 2" holes near the center and 2 or 3 1" holes each side, out to the edges. Use the old truss as a guide on how far to go toward the edge. I would split the distance top to bottom by eye.
