Time to repair the bent and torn siding. We cut the siding just past the bend which ended up under the window so that had to come out too. We were all set to lay out the pattern on the new piece to get the curve cut but...the new metal was the wrong size!!! We had taken in a small piece that was in front of the window but it just happened that it was a different width than the rest of the siding on the trailer. Really, the one piece we took in was different than all the rest on the trailer, who knew.
The RV supply store is 1 1/2 hour round trip drive, it was late afternoon, too late to get there before they closed. We have been to the RV store 4 times in the last 6 days. Regulars now. Spent close to 2 hours there just the day before. Wishing we would have noticed the siding size problem before now. We were scheduled to have more rain. Now we not only have no siding on the wall but the window is out too. UGH! We decided to put the window back in so at least water wouldn't come in there and tarp it all back up again for the next non rain day. I'm deciding that spring in the midwest is NOT that time to do a open air trailer renovation!
On another note, that black duct tape is the strongest stuff I have ever seen. It held the trailer together all the way from Oklahoma City and we can't get it off now. Even worked on it the other day with a heat gun and not much luck. Ideas?
