The next step was to get the roof trusses installed.
We used 2x6's to make the new trusses and just copied the old one that was still salvageable. It had a bit of dry rot on the ends but was basically ok. The very front truss had two attached together so we did the same thing only we used adheasive and screws instead of staples.
We also debated about the need for air flow as the old trusses were open and the new ones were solid. In the end we decided to go ahead and drill a few holes to let the air move. I'm not sure if this was necessary or not but we figured it wouldn't hurt the integrity of the truss much.

The siding was already put back on and attached so we couldn't screw in the trusses from the outside. We used Screws to attach them but also used metal 90 degree brackets to hold the rear one solid in place

Truss installation complete!

On a side note when we first installed the trusses the right side wall did not meet up with the end of the truss by about an inch. Thinking we had somehow measured the old truss wrong slight panic ensued. Not wanting to rebuild the new trusses we had to figure out a way to make it work. We re-measured the old trusses and our new ones were exact. We had not measured wrong but in the building of the side walls they were not perpendicular the roof. We had to use some force to pull it in but it worked and the trusses fit!
