Sidecar & Coolmom, I didn't need any special prep really for the walls themselves as we never cook on the stove as we cook everything outdoors. You simply will need to make sure it is clean and dry and remove any grease, etc from the walls. I did a little testing with a piece of scrap from the first piece on whether to scuff the walls first or leave them as they are, it didn't seem to matter either way. I took time to rub my finger thru all the overlapping joints as they are a little recessed. After I was done I re caulked along the counter and used a j- roller to ensure they made good contact.
