Anyone upgrade brake wiring - does it improve braking?

I have been tossing around changing the brake wiring from what looks like 14 gauge to 8 or 10 gauge wire. Has anyone done this and noticed an improvement in braking from the trailer. I don't want to...

Our former moderator LAdams did just that. You can see his excellent post, complete with installation pictures here.

Here is another one done by our own master pictorial essay instructor JBarca. :B

Both of them report much improved braking performance plus more reliable service from their brakes.
