Atwood Air Conditioner 2000 Watt Generator Friendly

I just installed a second air conditioner on my 30 amp 5th wheel. I chose this particular unit because it was advertised as 2000 watt generator friendly. It is a 13,500 BTU unit and as stated has a 16000 BTU equivalent. I purchased the non ducted version. It has a flip down display and a remote. Well I'm here to tell ya it works just fine with my little Honda. In addition I have 15 amp service available at my storage facility and it started and ran just fine with nary a grunt. I'll post pics in another thread cuz I had to get creative with the wiring. I bought this unit from PPL Motor Homes here in Houston.

  • I just had the 15,000btu Atwood "Air Command" unit installed in my trailer which replaced an 11 year old Dometic "Brisk Air" 15,000btu unit. After using it last week I can tell you that it puts out considerably more air and much quieter than the old unit. I am very pleased with it. It also functions as a 15,000btu heat pump.

I am sure you will not regret your choice and purchase. Whether they last as long as the Dometic units remains to be seen. They have been used in Australia for quite a few years.

  • How quiet is this unit compared to your old unit? I have a 10 year old Dometic, that sounds like a 747 on a takeoff roll.

    Thanks,
