I'm an amature at this stuff, no idea what camera draws, wouldn't think it is too much, it was running off a 9V battery.
What size resistor would I use, if that is a solution, so I don't fry my camera?
And can I get what I need at an auto parts store or?
Like you were told above, your vehicle may produce up to 15 volts. The camera could fry. I'd use something like this to limit the voltage:
Buck convertor but it's getting a little complcated. Your 9 volt battery may do the job and last for years if you only use it for hitching up. "K.I.S.S" seems to maybe apply (Keep it simple stupid)
