Battery Box for two 6v GC2's?

Looking for a battery box that will hold two GC2 batteries.

I can only seem to find the locking diamond plate ones that are in the $250 to $350 range.

Are there regular plastic boxes that are more reasonably priced?
I saw a box for a 4d battery, but not sure if it is tall enough.

Any other options? Perhaps a tool chest, truck box or something?

Thanks
  • I used a couple group 31 plastic battery boxes which fit my trojan 1275 12v GC batteries wonderfully. I believe they are just as tall as the 6v. And two fit on the tongue in the battery tray, just barely but they fit.
  • I have 2 heavy duty plastic boxes like the one pictured in the above link.

    The ones I bought will fit 2 GC2's. I run 4 GC2's

I wandered in to the local RV parts dept and got them. They were in stock and on the shelf.

My boxes are longer, the batteries fit end to end, that is, the short sides butt together, (the terminal ends) so the long sides are end for end.
    Ugh, does that make sense?
  • I couldn't find any for my Trojan's at a reasonable price plus they had to replace the two 12V boxes on the TT tongue. So I got a couple of plastic boxes from Amazon. You could pop rivet two 6V boxes together or just install them next to each other. Not sure how well the aluminum pop rivets would withstand the acid fumes tho.

    Amazon--$35 for the pair

I saw that but it is only 14.6" long inside.
Most GC2's I see are about 10.5" long.

Or will it fit two sideways?

    EDIT:
My bad. It looks like it will.
    Reading is fundamental I guess.

    Thanks

That is the one I have for my pair of 6's. Excellent box, real sturdy build. Batteries fit side by side.
