Appreciate your feedback. My primary concern was do I need an entry and an exit or just a single vent tube. Looks like most of those only have a single vent.

Those vented battery boxes have a hole in the top and bottom. The one I had was two identical halves. I had to drill a hole in the floor where it sat and another hole in the wall for the hose/vent.

For the longest time I felt the cost of AGMs was difficult to justify but I sort of got forced into it when my aged G27 flooded finally went to battery heaven and I needed to replace it. Sound Guy I have slowly gravitated to your way of thinking. AGM's have come down in price considerably from what I Remember. I plan to buy 2 AGM to replaces my flooded batteries.

Sorry, an assumption on my part since the OP said he planned to add 2 more Crown batts to his existing 2, install them in a "non OEM location", along with solar, which suggests to me he would be powering an inverter.

no vent hose here, but also no electronic in the same area.
the vent hole is in the side of the rv. plenty of "venting" around the door. and floor is wide open. just enough steel to hold everything in place.
six 6 volt golf cart deep cycle.
any cover would have to be custom made. maybe if i have any free time.

No need to apologize, what you choose is entirely up to you, BUT it would have been germane to the discussion if you had mentioned this in your first post. You may consider your Crown flooded batteries to be a force du jour but there's no way I'd be locating any flooded battery so close to an inverter, enclosed in a vent box or not, certainly not now when batteries that require no venting are so readily available. I had a similar situation in my own trailer so when I replaced the aging tongue mounted flooded battery I chose an AGM and mounted it in the front pass through cargo compartment so the cable runs to the inverter would be no more than 18". No vent box required, no concern over having the battery mounted so close to the inverter, no need for maintaining fluid levels, minimal voltage drop under heavy inverter load. Even so-called "premium" batteries like your flooded Crowns are old technology that are now easily replaced with better products like AGM and eventually lithium once the price becomes more reasonable.

Took out single 12V. Put in 2 6V and inverter.




Made vented cover.
