We replaced most of our living room furniture and put in a house hold 3 seater recliner couch. Did not need the free standing kitchen table and chairs, or the 2 rocker. Found what we wanted at Value City Furniture. I measured, measured, and measured again before buying that couch. We looked for quite a while, different places, and then at Value City walked in and ... BINGO! there it was. The guy at the furniture store thought I was a bit eccentric with measuring tapes and removing the backs and everything, until I told him it HAD to fit through a travel trailer door, and successfully make a turn. He let me take the backs off, get all my measurements and buy it. Next day I arrived at the back door of Value City Furniture where they pulled out a brand new one, all bundled up in shrink wrap.
Three guys looked at me like I was nuts. That fat thing would not go through the door. I told them it needed to come apart. They removed all that plastic and separated the backs. Three of them on the outside, me on the inside. Couch was lifted up on end and the top side went in first, as the ceiling was higher than the door. Raised it all the way to the ceiling and then the bottom side (actually the end), lifted up and slid right inside the door.
Once inside the door, standing on end, I rotated it so it would stand in the correct direction. We walked it on into the camper on its end, and finally passed the kitchen area and lowered it into correct position. They put the back on, I pushed it into the slide out, and everyone was happy.
They even got rid of all the packing material. I looked at them and said, "See, I told you it would fit!" They smerked, admired the camper, and they all three said, they would love to have a camper like this. Then went on back inside! Success!
Later, I added wheels to it so it can move around and face the back window. End result, we love it.
In fact, the couch was so comfortable, a year later we bought the same identical couch for the house with the matching recliner. We are truly happy campers!
