FWIW, I've given up on mechanical latches. It's easier for me to drill a couple shallow holes and epoxy in neodymium magnets. If I want to get really fussy, I can locate the magnet just beneath the frame and fill the remaining space with filler of choice. The filler is then painted so that there is no hint of a latch or magnet.
