Can a trailer be raised by just replacing the equalizer?

The new truck is higher than the older one and I'd like to raise the 5er about 2". I was told at a campground that just replacing the equalizer with a taller one would do it but wanted to get other thoughts.

If anyone has done this, how'd it work?

Thanks,

Mike

  • I installed that kit to get a 2" lift when I switched to 16" LT tires on the trailer. After extensive measurements, I found after the kit was on that the chassis alignment was within specs, so no further adjustments needed.
  • Great, thanks for the replies.

The axle alignment kit looks interesting since I had to get my axles aligned in Eugene, OR.
  • Yes. But raising the equalizer 1" will only raise the whole trailer about 3/8"s.
  • If you don't have means of raising (repositioning) the eye ends of springs you won't gain much height changing equalizer.

But you can accomplish two things with an 'axle alignment kit'
Align the axles AND raise height 2"
