The hide-a-bed sofa that came in our used 5er was not very comfortable as a sofa and was a torture device as a bed. As well the previous owners had a dog that slept on it making it stink like a wet dog. We thought about 2 recliners but nixed that due to cost and available space. As well, we wanted a small bed for a guest to sleep on.
London Drugs had a futon bed on sale for $99 and we thought what the heck, we'd give it a try. I had to dismantle the old sofa to get it out the door but the futon came in no problem and fit perfectly. I was pleasantly suprised how comfortable it was as a sofa and not bad as a single bed either. It has lots of padding and evan the pleather covering feels good. It takes up less space and there is room under and behind it for storage.
