Excellent idea. We have been doing this for years with 2 gauge cable running back to our 2 X group 31 AGM batteries in the coach. Switch selectable. V10 uses about 1/3 to 1/2 gallon per hour on idle according to our scanner. We generally start the V10 when we have to run high load items like alternator, toaster, coffee maker. When we are done with the appliance we let it run for another 15 minutes or so and shut it off. When the appliance runs a significant amount of current comes from the V10 and not the batteries. Not worried about hurting the motor. We bought it to use it. Its a V10 ford. Tough bugger.
