This is my first post, so here goes. On my 2005 R-Vision MaxLite TT, I have the typical city water connection on the outside. I'd like to insert a "quick connect" connector to hook up water quickly. Problem is, if I leave the male end of the connector in the city water connection inlet without a dust cover, it will get dirty from exposure. The standard white rubber dust cover for the city connection by itself does not fit the brass quick connector.I have looked for a similar dust cap (preferably with a lasso so I don't lose it), and haven't seen any that fit. Does anyone have a solution, or found a dust cap for these quick connect fittings? I have both the brass style and the Melnor brand plastic style fittings. If I can't find a way to protect the quick connector, then it seems pointless to have it on my city water inlet.I was unable to find any previous posts on this topic.Thank you for your help!

Could you get a female quick connector and attach a pipe cap or something similar to it and make your own protector?I do agree that the benefit of having a quick connector does seem to go down considerably if you have to unscrew it from the RV every time you move.

Agree with DrewE aboveget another quick connector, use the male part only and get a standard threaded cap from the plumbing dept.....all available at Home Depot.

How much of a cook are you? Almost every food prep and butcher shop has those finger sheaths for incidental cuts. I'd bet they are a direct fit.

I apologize, everyone, for not responding to all your great suggestions. We are replacing our EPDM roof and have to get it done before our next trip on the 22nd (and the TT is parked outside, so weather and daylight are factors). Weather permitting and God willing, we'll get that wrapped up soon and then I can focus again on these smaller (but no less aggravating) matters. I'll post a picture of the solution I find. Y'all have given me some great resources to explore-- thank you!

Do you have a pressure relief valve somewhere in line? Also, wouldn't having a quick disconnect stick out too much? Can you re plumb things so that everything is flush with the sides of your unit?

Here's what you need, I have this setup on my city supply and fresh water tank. On the dust cap, run a small chain from it to the body or chassis, you won't lose it.

I will don't do that.I use to have the quick disconnect for one year and when I want to take it out I can't.The oxidation was so bad even when I take the hole thing out from the RV I got problem to take it off.I end up buying another city connection.

I have the same set up, but mine is plastic. I got them from Home Depo store, it is a female quick connector with a garden hose cap.

I have exactly what you are looking for on my male inlet nipple but I just can't remember where I got it. Probably at one of the larger swap meets in Yuma, Mesa or at one of the vendors at Quartzsite. It is just like the cap for the female inlet except it is for the male quick connect. Just wanted to let you know that they are available. You may also want to check at a hydraulic parts store. They will have plastic caps for fittings.
