So I seem to just be having more and more bad luck and can't seem to catch a break :( I sent a couple of messages out to some handyman's to see what I could do about getting some help (none of the men who offered or were asked to help me actually know a darn thing about rv repairs). One was supposed to come out last weekend to check out the RV and let me know what he would charge me to help me replace the roof. Needless to say he canceled and I haven't heard from him since. :M I heard from another man who stated he did roof replacements and that he is always cheaper than an actual repair shop. Sent him all the pics I could get for him and he came back with a $4,200 price tag (repair shops have ALL quoted me at $5,000). :(
So, I'm back to square one of trying to find someone willing to help me do this. Some days I really hate being born a girl.
On the plus side, I've gotten just about ALL of the ceiling removed. There is a small section over the back bed and the back half of the bathroom. I was NOT impressed when I got back there. Currently I have chunks of rotted plywood and FRAME boards laying in the bathroom from where they just nicely fell out of the ceiling after taking it down.
I read somewhere else where it said that the cabinets were more than likely part of the structure of the RV, can someone verify this? I'm planning on removing them and making my own to replace them; but I don't want to be to quick to take them out if it could cause an issue with the camper possibly flipping?
I'm just getting very frustrated because all I seem to hear is how I should just sell the camper and cut my loses. Except as a single mom with really shitty credit there is no way I can get another RV. Not to mention I'm still making payments to the friend that loaned me the money to buy this one. Just seriously sucks that people have to be such ******** in this world and take advantage of people like me..
But I'm heading back to work some more on the RV. Not sure how I'm gonna do this roof, but it has to get done, so hopefully it turns out correct since it looks like I'll be doing it myself. Unless some lucky reader happens to be from Michigan and wants to give this girl a hand!
