Converted Stove to push button ignition

I really hated looking for the "fire stick" to light my stove every time I wanted to use it. A trip to Lowes and in the BBQ isle I found igniters that should work.

Mounted them up and painted with hi-Temp BBQ paint

Mounted the push buttons on the front of the stove

Here is a video of how it works.....

Love this modification!
  • Here is a link to one of the best mods I have done. It is a sparker for a stove from many years ago. Works like a charm.
  • I put in a 4 pole battery powered igniter from Walmart in place of the pizzo lighter my Atwood stove came with. I connected the 4th pole to the oven so we don't have to kneel down when lighting the oven pilot. It's been working well without having to change the battery for two years. DW says it's one of our best mods.

    clip , I just hate 9v batteries, they're expensive.

that is because there are 6 little batteries in one case. :)
  • Not that this matters now, but, seems odd that stove would come sans igniters. That location is where mine is, and it looks to be the same Atwood stove, and has plenty of room.

My stove has a knob to turn for the igniters, it is very loud and wakes the DW up if I use it and that ain't good. My CharBroil Grill has an electronic igniter and I have thought of buying one for the stovetop burners. Has anyone converted to a igniter with a 9volt battery?

Guess I should start a new thread but I'm lazy.

You should be able to get a better igniter than that. My Weber only needs a single AA battery.

Nothing wrong with your idea, I just hate 9v batteries, they're expensive.

They also have a single button that goes up to 4 igniters

We did the 4 with 1 knob and put the 4th in the oven.
