I've had both Dexter and Kodiak Disc and both use the Carlisle actuator. Dexter was factory installed on a 2004 Newmar Kountry Star and Kodiak factory installed on current 2008 Mobile Suites Trailer.
Both are very comparable in performance. Kodiak much easier to work on and pads readily available at any auto parts store. Pads way cheaper for Kodiak as Dexter runs $150 per axle where Kodiak closer to $30.00 per axle. I had problems on the Dexter' with pistons hanging up in calipers which led to uneven pad wear and replacement of caliper 1/2's. Very expensive as I had to get from Dexter direct.
Only known issue with Kodiak is that some have had a caliper hang up and not slide on sleeve and chew pads. Very easy fix to disassemble and grease sleeve.
Morryde does hundreds of brake conversions and use Carlisle actuators and Kodiak disc brakes. One could read something into that as far as cost and reliability. Randu
