DIY sleeper dinette...advise please

Hello,
Next on my dream coach To-Do list is build a sleeper dinette to replace the free standing one there now.
Iam restricted to 80in length and only 26in width.
I may try to squeeze another inch or two for width, but I'm concerned about the hallway to the bathroom. It is only 32in wide from wall to wall and anything over 26inches wide for the dinette will shrink the hall width.
I'm curious what you all think would be a better choice. Forcing any additional sleeping guests to be limited to 26inch sleeping width, or making everyone squeeze through a 30inch or less hallway to use the facilities.
This sleeper will not be used every adventure, but I plan to bring my 13 year old niece along on occasion.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. How wide are your hallways? Alternative ideas to adding another sleep location without just inflating an air mattress.
Thanks all. Semper FI.

You could hinge the bed platform so that, in daytime use, it folds out of the way.

    30" is passable for walking.

Was thinking a variation on this idea with This style.
Were both booths slide to each other and hinged to provide storage and fold up one side whe. Not in use to open the hall width.
My wife thinks I'm crazy, but Seems like an easy design that's different from the norm.

  • My MH had the dinette benches with the pull down table to make a double bed. The only problem I had was there was a door on the base, but unless I had something right there to get from the door, you had to get people off the bench, take off cushions, then open the door on the base to get to storage. I later had drawers made in the base and we just took off the door and used it for the drawer front. The bench is 36" but the carpenter only had 24" slides, so they put a divider at the 24" mark and we reserve the far end storage for things we don't need every day.

The benches can still be used for a bed.

Its funny you say that, first thing i did after buying my coach eas rip out the rear queen to put split twins, after it was pulled apart I ran into a problem of my charger /converter being mounted a the foot of the bed and the wire bundles running across the width of the room. Rather than rewiring electric, i built a new queen pedestal bed with 10x more storage under it.
that's what we like about buying older rigs....:) no guilt for ripping out and building what we LIKE.

  • We changed our queen (crawl over the other person) bed in our 5er to 2 twins. They're 30" wide....we, adults, sleep just fine and have plenty of room left over. Your 13 yr old niece should be able to sleep in a 26" space. I think squeezing around the hallway for the sake of a bigger bed would be a no-no in my household.
