You're going to be pleased to know how difficult it is to heat up an AGM so as cause thermal runaway. I'm not saying thermal runaway is not possible, just that it is not probable.
Thermal Runaway
Always use temperature compensated chargers that regulate the battery temperature by limiting charge current. My experience is that my Magnum 1012 1000/50 inverter/charger goes into thermal overload when charging and reduces the charge current to 30A to cool itself down.
Fuse the battery connections to avoid excessive current draw. I use a 250W fuse on a 540AH AGM bank to power a 2200W inverter that is five inches away.
You could observe the battery temps with an Infrared Gun until you get comfortable with your system during charge and discharge conditions.
Find something other than venting AGM to worry about.
