Dog bone

I'm having a hard time finding a dog bone that goes from male 20amp to female 30amp

Do they exist?

Male end must look like this

    Amazon

    Three different versions

The "Parkworld" one listed by Amazon seems to be okay by the description but I can't see any sign of CSA or UL on it anywhere and isn't mentioned in the description. If it isn't manufactured to CSA or UL requirements and have either one stamped on it, don't buy it or use it. If it's not manufactured to north american safety & performance standards it could be unsafe or have other issues. Wouldn't be the first time I've seen non-approved/listed adapters and other electrical products on the market.
  • some times that is 'molded/stamped' into the rubber jacket of the cord

On that 20amp to 30amp dogbone on Amazon, I asked about UL or CSA certification. Go to the link and read the question and answer.

    https://www.amazon.com/Parkworld-884852-Generator-Adapter-TT-30R/dp/B01LBY1S9A?ref_=pe_623860_70668520

or, trust me that this is what was said.

Question: Is this 20amp to 30amp adapter either UL or CSA certified?

Answer: No UL or CSA Listed.
But all the material and strcture in connector was the same as our UL listed 5-20 or TT-30 extension cord.
And the cord use SJTW 12 AWG, for 20 AMP overload.
Don't worry about safety. see less

Every one I've seen is for a 15A Male to 30A female. This includes those listed above. Finding one with a 20A plug like the OP want's ??

X2, the 15a is the one I carry and it should work fine for you. Never seen a 20a dogbone.

I did do some looking and only found the Parkworld dogbone style one on Amazon (and elsewhere). A 20 amp plug will have a NEMA configuration that will only work in a 20 amp "T-slot" recept. Would only be good in a CG pedestal and not at home unless somebody installed a 20 amp recept. for that purpose.

I would agree a 15 amp adapter is probably just fine but why does OP want to be able to plug into 20 amps - a generator, more power to run an AC unit or? Having an 18" long, #14 or #12 dogbone wouldn't make a difference IMO because the cable would have a "free air" rating. Many portable household appliances that are rated at 1500 watts only have a 16 ga. cord for example, as does our 1875 watt hair dryer. A person probably could just lop the 15 amp plug off a dogbone and install a 20 amp plug and be just fine (but you didn't hear me say that).
  • I have a 20amp line dedicated solely for my camper.
The wire is 12/2 with a 20amp breaker and a 20amp gfi plug that has a sideways slot.

I went 20amp for the extra power for the 130foot run I have to the house breaker panel
