About a month ago a rv cleaning specialist recommenred Awesome cleaner available at Dollar stores to me for washing my fifth wheel. I tried it full strength on some baked on bugs they came off like magic. I was about to dilute it to the recommended strength and give it a try starting with my roof, but saw some negative comments on it on some posts on this forum. Is it safe to use and what has been your experience with it?

I use awesome on every thing. Great product.

It is called "LA's Totally Awesome' and it is good stuff. I don't recommend using it full strength, it can take off paint.

We used it (diluted) to clean the exterior of the gutters on our house. It took the shine off and now everything sticks to them and they look awful. We threw the rest of that totally awesome stuff away and will never use it again.

It is incumbent to read the warnings on the bottle to ensure compatability of the surface being cleaned. It is a very effective cleaner when used correctly. It is one of the few things that will remove the yellowing from aged plastic parts on the exterior of a camper effectively.

Which Dollar store carries this? We have Dollar Tree, Family Dollar, and Dollar General.

I have seen it at Walmart too.

Great stuff but be careful, it is stout!

I first read about Totally Awesome on the Forest River forum a few years ago like here for example. Both positive and negative comments. Do a search there for numerous threads on the product. We bought some but have not tried it yet.

Product info. on manufacturer's website Not sure what's in it, but it can't be anything special for the price at dollar stores.

Best thing to do is use 303 protectant on the decals and a good wax, and then soap and water before getting to the point of needing a more aggressive cleaner.

We use it all the time with great results. We do read the label and avoid using it on surfaces it shouldn't be used on, and/or dilute to the proper strength.

I buy at Dollar Tree for $1 per bottle. They have a smaller spray bottle and a larger refill bottle.

When washing the trailer, I mix Awesome, bleach, and water in my pump sprayer. Hose the trailer with water and then spray with the mix. Scrub with a long handle brush and rinse before it dries.

I have also used black streak remover and it seems to work the same as Awesome but for a lot more $$$.

Google tells me that Walmart also carries LA's Totally Awesome All Purpose Concentrated Cleaner in a 32 oz spray bottle for $1.47.

Yeah, and Big Lots sells it if you have one in your area. I use it like I would use Formula 409 or another spray cleaner. Haven't noticed it was better or worse but it IS cheaper.
