Dometic AC Unit Install

I just added another AC unit to my trailer. Install seemed easier than I thought it would have been. Dutchmen (Infinity) had it pre-wired for power, temp sensor and data cable as it was the zone 2 unit using the CCC2 thermostat unit.

My question is the manual states up to 50 inch pounds of torque which if the calculators online equate to about 5lbs? Is that right? Is that enough to compress the roof seal to prevent water leakage? It sure seems like its not and as far as the install goes I cleaned as much of the self leveling gunk that I could and filled the previous screw holes and just planted it in the opening with out any additional sealer. Was that the right way? Its working just fine BTW.
  • When I added my front unit I was concerned about the remaining goo from the vent. I ran a thin bead of rubber roof sealant just to make sure.
  • Could always run a hose up there and test. Have someone down below watching for any leaks.
  • Normally there are plastic tabs that are located on the edge of the gasket. You tighten the screws until the plastic tabs are flush with the bottom of the gasket.
  • 15k penguin low profile model. I had to go with that to match the required electronics package of the thermostat.
  • What was the size and brand of the AC you used. Might get a 2nd one myself.
    Happy trails,
  • Sounds good to me! Just not sure about the 5 ft lbs. I do know it does not require much torque. :)
